And maaaaybe to a degree Celty, though you have to admit Celty probably should have realized she's being strung along awhile ago, but the fact she's not human sort of excuses it.
I'm not thinking about the characters based about how "together" they have it. One could argue Shinra has it pretty well together overall. He's just aware he's looking down a .45 magnum loaded with the truth, even if he's unaware what the exact truth is (which I'll admit is a dubious thing to assume at best), and he's desperately hoping it never fires.
I mean, overall I'm enjoying it, it's just I haven't seen this many characters quite THIS dysfunctional and actively trying to play it off as "everything is fine" in awhile.
Right now the ONLY relationship which is even close to "working" in any stable manner is Celty and Shizuo. And that's more of the pair both understanding on a base level, "Yeah, we're both monsters who kinda just WANT normalcy but can't have it."
This thing is just Utena levels of self-delusion, except for Shizuo, Shizuo knows what he is.
