I think the only time I ever had an issue was where it was OOC for the characters in said relationship to be friendly with one another, let alone romantically involved... but again that came back to the ship being rushed and underdeveloped (among some other very bad things I found out later about one of the players) than being a cross-canon ship.

I think what a lot of players/shippers need to realize is that it’s okay to slowly build up to something. It makes it more believable and enjoyable.... and to not forsake being IC for the sake of a ship. Which I sadly see a LOT in DWRP

It really depends on the character, I feel. If character A is the type to get interested in someone pretty quickly, then why hem and haw about it? It's different if Character A is in a committed relationship, but most characters aren't.
