they're not too shabby at it!

Richie's more of a novice - he usually sticks to instant shit he can just toss into a pot and boil. do not expect him to make anything more complicated than blueberry pancakes or spaghetti. he can try, but it'll take a lot of attempts before he gets it right

and he can lose interest real fast if he thinks it's not worth the effort

but he's passably good at scrambled eggs!

Joyce I figure is not too bad a cook either, but bc she's a busy single mother, she generally just buys shit ready-made and nukes them

but she can follow a recipe and turn out good homemade food if she ever has the time for it

Jonathan is probably much better at it than she is though just bc he's done it more than her

oh yeah definitely! and TV dinners. and instant stuff. the microwave gets a workout with her

she's not the sort of person who can sink time into recipes that require hours of work

I do think older Richie is actually a much better cook than he lets on! it's just that it is honestly much funnier to say that he's not a good cook at all. but in reality he's been living on his own for a long time, he can feed himself

generally tho he eats takeout and easy to make food, unless he's having someone over for dinner in which case he makes An Effort

I imagine usually he'll just order takeout and call it a day. or like, reheat some leftovers in the fridge. if he does need to make something it's usually easy stuff: pasta, omelettes, scrambled eggs with bits of ham in them, soup

bc I like to project I think Richie as an adult got turned on to fried rice bc it is SO easy to make. just cook some rice. then crack some eggs on it and mix in whatever and fry it. bam, full meal.

what's his maximum age for leftovers, and am i correct in imagining him sniff-testing everything he takes out of his fridge

on average he usually makes sure that all the leftovers are eaten within like, a week.

there's a couple exceptions like. there's an unopened can of something that expired long ago and he just has not touched it bc he honestly is a little worried

he is also the type of guy to just cut mold off bread and chow down though

Jessica Jones: microwaved takeout. nothing else. she can cook, she consciously chooses not to.
Jester: her food is either prepared by magic kitty servants or it's road rations or it's dinner at her mom's. this woman has not touched a pan in her life. I know it in my bones.
