been out in the connecting neighbours garden, while they weren't using it, to spend some time being a plant in the sunshine.

then got involved in some minor archaeology in a corner of the garden where things don't grow well. With a small stone (or piece of ancient brick?) I was unearthing what turned out to be a much larger slab of stone than expected.

this got the robin very excited and even the second, more shy, robin turned up for a bit.
sef_lopod
found obvious things like a lump of chalk (and the occasional worm or centipede) but also much more unusual things such as a very large clam shell.
sef_lopod
if that corner was previously a decorative rockery with stones and shells.

another smaller slab of stone/brick, at least in its surface area, turned out to go too deep on this first exploration - and is very hard to reach because of the evil leylandii hedge.

had to wash and apply antihistamine cream to recover from touching things (probably that hedge).

that sounds like an excellent adventure. Those leylandii are such a menace. Our “new” house has a hedge of them separating our garden from the neighbours’. Happily, they’ve pruned down their side to a hedge height so we can do the same.
