Villain
Read a bunch of manga and now I have an isekai plot pitch
Villain
It's not even really a subversion
Villain
So we start with fantasy land
Villain
in fantasy land, there's a school for cool awesome mage knights
Villain
only the most talented students from across the land get to go there
Villain
Traditionally it's always been restricted to the aristocracy
Princess Emily
I don't think you really need a subversion for an isekai story to be fine, just. Avoiding the trope checklist every other isekai follows, and remembering that conflict is good for a story not bad. And not to be stupidly perverted about everything.
Villain
Can't have peasants gaining their own power
Villain
that's too hard Emily what kind of miracle worker do you think I am?
Villain
But in recent years there was a big war and the nation that is home to this awesome mage knight school was losing
Villain
So in an act of desperation the emperor opened up mage knight school to commoners
Villain
And there were a bunch of commoner mage knights that helped turn the tide of the war
Villain
Now the war is over, and the emperor doesn't want to undo his decree, because having this many knights is making his nation crazy powerful
Villain
but the OTHER aristocrats are like "Hey now"
Villain
"Now that the war is over we gotta reestablish the social order where we're better than everyone"
Villain
So there were a series of unwritten rules where like
Villain
Nobles would hold the families of commoners that tried to join the school hostage
Villain
So you could go
Villain
but if you weren't showing your social betters their proper respect, they'd like
Villain
kill your sister or something
Villain
So functionally, commoners that go to mage knight school still have to do whatever the aristocrats say
Villain
AND INTO ALL THIS
Villain
Our hero from another world appears
RobotApocalypse
yo this setting concept rules actually
Villain
And their big "cheat power"
Villain
Is that they have no family
Villain
no clan
Villain
NO ONE
Villain
that the nobility can threaten
Villain
because they're from another dimension
Villain
So they show talent as a mage knight and find their way to the school
Villain
and just start fucking up the social strata
moontouched
bonus points if they just give a random noble house every time someone tries to ask where they're from
moontouched
just to fuck with everyone
moontouched
so you have half a dozen nobles going "WELL THEY'RE NOT MINE"
moontouched
at any given time
moontouched
as they just throw the entire social hierarchy into chaos
ғᴏxʏᴍᴏʀᴏɴ
holy shit
ғᴏxʏᴍᴏʀᴏɴ
i'm into it
Villain
There's lots of scenes of various commoner knights getting bullied by nobles
Wild Child
hell yeah
Villain
made to do embarrassing his
Villain
this*
Villain
shit*
Villain
I can type
Villain
And then hero boy shows up and is like "Hey"
Villain
"You're a jackass"
Villain
"Knock that off"
Villain
"YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME AS SUCH! I'LL HAVE YOUR, UH..."
Villain
"You'll what?"
moontouched
whatcha gonna do, noble boy
Villain
He's just like
Villain
kinda average as an actual fighters
Villain
his main advantage is he's actually willing to fight
Villain
because also he came from a country that's a democracy
Villain
So not only does he not give a shit about the nobility, but he actually ENJOYS shittalking them
RobotApocalypse
hell yeah!!! eat the rich, kid!
Wild Child
I imagine him punching a noble which shocks them
Vehrec
"You're friends with that commoner? Then her little sister is gonna lose a hand!"
moontouched
it would be really funny if his main 'cheat' combat technique is the ancient technique of "i'm not afraid to nutshot a noble for being a piece of shit"
Wild Child
yessssss
Wild Child
"finally, a rich person right in front of me"
Wild Child
"all my fantasies are about to be fulfilled"
moontouched
commoners already entrenched in the hierarchy of having their family held hostage wouldnt dare but he's just like lol /WHAM
Villain
He's an American
Villain
So he's just like
Villain
"Hey look"
Villain
"Republicans"
Villain
"And I can beat them up"
RobotApocalypse
lmaoooooo yessss
Villain
it DOES start getting more complicated once he starts making friends with the locals
Villain
as vehrec pointed out
dragon time
An incredible farce in which he is a dick to everybody but most of them are in on the joke
Villain
yesssssss
HotXC
that's rad
ғᴏxʏᴍᴏʀᴏɴ
i'm just imagining his BFF, a commoner knight lady who just makes a scene out of 'fighting' with him and it's just
ғᴏxʏᴍᴏʀᴏɴ
both of them are clearly trying to not crack up
Villain
Nobles are used to not paying too much attention to commoners
Villain
so it's fine
