I look for photo opportunities while walking. It's easier once the leaves and flowers are back. In the meantime, I'm on the lookout for moss, dried leaves, rocks, and general winter stuff.

It does make you have to look at things differently.

Indikon : yours are amazing

Tamsie : They look as if they’re poised to take over the world.
JigmeDatse
Indikon : Those are really good. I don't think I could get that with handheld shots.
Indikon
JigmeDatse : I used my phone. That’s why the first one doesn’t have quite the right focus. On the other hand, an SLR might not if I had to lie in the mud to look through the viewfinder.
JigmeDatse
Yeah, just have the SLR, which seems like it's less easy to get shots like this handheld. But, I do have the rotatable display that I can use (but rarely do for stills, but video you can't shoot without using it)

JigmeDatse : My back & neck aren’t up to carrying the SLR all the time, so when I’m just doing the daily dog walk, I use the phone. It’s better than using it talk to people.

if you have found a subject
Tamsie
Boo J : found a few today!
JigmeDatse
Yeah, I'm trying to be OK with taking the camera out on days that look decent. But it's heavy, and neck and back don't like it. I have found that the cross body strap works well for me...
Indikon
JigmeDatse : Cross body is what I do too. I just take it if I go for a special outing, or it’s just in the garden.
