12. How does their education and intelligence โ or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations? ok so canoncially fenris can't read, but over time he learns? and by blue wraith i imagine he knows way more. but the thing is you probably wouldn't know it unless he said it. he speaks about how slaves aren't taught anything
that would give them independence yet fenris is very intelligent in the way he speaks and presents ideas/opinions. my guess is he taught himself wherever he could (which is my headcanon for him). THAT BEING SAID, getting to some actual examples
when he speaks to an elf who knows qunlat she says his accent is shitty, but when you hear him speak he speaks in full ass sentences, because he says at some point he spent months with the qunari/tal vashoth and was able to pick up their language just by listening
clearly he has an ear for this sort of thing. he also can speak elven well enough because he makes a comment that the elven people still talk to him sometimes
and for someone who wasn't taught traditionally he can tell you a ton of history about tevinter and tevinter relics, which is undoubtedly stuff he paid attention to and picked up along the way. because that's how he had to learn as a slave. no one was going to tell him anything. he can't read yet he knew enough about shartan's history to know he wanted to
learn more. he knew all about the lore of mabari and their origin in tevinter, and about the blade of mercy - enough that he wanted to wield it for the irony of it
fenris is actually a bigass source of tevinter lore in DA2 because he can tell hawke the ins and outs just from his time there, whereas he makes it perfectly clear that slaves have zero education, and you even meet one later who doesn't even seem to know what's going on because she's so brainwashed
SO YEAH HE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, DOES OK FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS TO TEACH HIMSELF (esp re languages), AND YOU WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT KNOW OF HIS LACK OF EDUCATION UNLESS HE SAID IT. but if you're like, familiar with people who are self taught, or are yourself, you might recognize those little tell tale signs ?
so, i headcanon that fenris is into languages. obviously the four he learned were for convenience and necessity but leave me alone i say it's something he enjoyed learning and therefore he has an interest in it. also i'd say...learning in general? because, again, it's not something he was allowed to do and he's nothing if not rebellious.
the world is fuck off huge and there's a lot he doesn't know so when he gets the chance to learn ANYTHING he's all about it. he's a huge fuckin nerd. i'd say i'm backed by this just because of the sheer amount of seemingly random bits of information he shares with hawke throughout the game.
i would also say for a man who knows fuck all about his past it makes sense that he'd take an interest in the past/history of the world in general :, )
i feel like, fenris's appearance is all from habit. pointy, dark, maybe offputting. one of the things he says is that danarius literally used his appearance to intimidate his guests just for shits and giggles. fenris likes to keep people at bay so he upholds that uh. intimidating aesthetic, even in blue wraith his look is completely new but not a huge
departure from his canon look. still dark, still pointy, still intimidating. whenever he's in games though he will go for whatever's comfortable enough to not hurt his markings.
ok his imagination is like. the worst. when he daydreams it's usually because something reminded him of something awful, let's be honest. or when he's trying really hard to grasp a faint memory that he only has half of, so he's trying desperately to put the pieces together so he can recall the whole thing. or when something reminds him of something that he
48. How are your characterโs gestures? Vigorous? Weak? Controlled? Compulsive? Energetic? Sluggish? oh god most of his gestures are with his face. his face is the most expressive, but he does tend to get really intense with his body language as well? if he's angry he'll probably punch a wall or slam his fist on a table.
