DryadGurrl
putting this here in the hopes that getting it down will make it stop gnawing at my brain and my anxiety (will open up comments once I'm through)

DryadGurrl
as of the end of next month I will likely be unemployed again with the hope that they'll be able to hire me back after 30 or 60 or 90 days

DryadGurrl
because there's either a state law or a company policy that you can't have a temp for more than a year, and I started 3/13/20

DryadGurrl
and god forbid they actually hire me permanently

DryadGurrl
Boss actually tried to frame this as a good thing for me: "Because you know it's busy now, but when the work slows down, the position isn't necessary" - because having the same level of business AND SOMETIMES TOO MUCH for a solid year means that it's going to slow down again, sure

DryadGurrl
and I hate that the system is set up so that they can play these games

DryadGurrl
and I didn't point out that when Mama retires as of March 10th, if I'm not there that leaves him, underboss who really hates doing anything and the half-trained processor

DryadGurrl
because I doubt the half (okay three-quarter)- trained processor is going to want Mama's position of Funder even if they offer it to her, because she's seen how much work that is, and how much they pile onto Mama even if it's something that the underboss could handle

DryadGurrl
so I've had a stress-headache since just after lunch, and that's not going away anytime soon

DryadGurrl
and like, I've been unemployed, it's nbd, I can survive on that provided I get another job within 6 months before they stop paying out unemployment

DryadGurrl
but with the world the way it is? I'm not hopeful on that, either.

DryadGurrl
anyway comments should be open now if y'all want to yell with me

Haunted Boobs
Cheezus fuck I am sorry

Sage⁉
that's shitty that policy is in place for asshole companies can exploit it. my god.

ѕυnɗerlanɗ°
that's so much bullshit I'm sorry

𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑗𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑦 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑒
that's such garbage they haven't offered you a perm job after all this time

𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕡𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤
hey honest question, do you still get unemployment if you just, walk?

𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕡𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤
like, this is the same place that has pulled the "we'll hire you if you dance, my pretty~" rug out from under you twice that I know of.

𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕡𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤
(this is huge bullshit and I'm sorry it's occurring raaagh)

❄️waffle❄️
ugh i hate that you have to deal with this

DryadGurrl
𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕡𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤
: unfortunately not

DryadGurrl
I have to be sans employment 'through no fault of my own'

DryadGurrl
𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑗𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑦 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑒
: it is, it's utter trash, and I know Mama has talked to boss about it, especially considering her upcoming retirement

DryadGurrl
but it's bc underboss doesn't trust me because I don't have her same 'work from home and don't claim it as overtime' work ethic

DryadGurrl
(She has zero work life balance and expects everyone to be the same way)

𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘭 𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘰
what a bs policy that is, they need to just hire you

❄️waffle❄️
ugh i hate people like that

DryadGurrl
againstme: E X A C T L Y they do

DryadGurrl
but instead he's like 'well the call center has an open position you should apply!' first off: no they don't and secondly dude, my dude, sir, listen to yourself

DryadGurrl
so as an update: Mama isn't actually retiring this year, which means either boss or her hubbo talked her around, she's giving it another year and a half, retiring September of 2022

DryadGurrl
but letting me go means she'll be taking on my entire workload, bc new girl doesn't know any of it

DryadGurrl
and the fact that my boss literally said 'as far as I'm concerned, you're permanent' while letting me know that I'm not going to be there much longer really pisses me off

DryadGurrl
because what I hear is 'it's great that you're an indentured servant, but heaven forbid we actually have to pay you and give you benefits if the work slows down'

DryadGurrl
which again: IT HAS NOT SLOWED DOWN FOR A YEAR

DryadGurrl
which is why I'm even still there!
