does anyone else have a thing where like you can't carry on a conversation when you're counting something

i encounter this a lot at work, i'll be like mid-conversation and making a drink and counting the amount of syrup pumps that go in a drink and i will just STOP talking

i am completely unable to think about anything else

like usually my brain can process several things at once but when i'm counting it's like NO. ONLY COUNT

i cannot do both and ill pick counting to take my attention every time bc i dont wanna do more math than i have to

Yes. I can't do anything else or the numbers will fall out of my head.

Word brain and number brain cannot be online at the same time: one of them gonna get booted

absolutely same, cannot numbers & words at the same time

I can however, continue typing and carry on a brief conversation at the same time, drives my father nuts
