A question/suggestion! Would you ever consider changing this to a form in the future? Select your name and character permutation, pop in the link for ac proof (update it to make a new field every month). The results spreadsheet updates and I'm on my phone so I can't think about how it would work but you could cross reference it to the set list of players
rana
I just don't want to accidentally update this logged into my personal email and then have a record of my first and last name in the edit history ya know lol
rana
Just brainstorming on how to preserve something that saves you time in AC processing
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
suggestion in case mods don't see this: access the sheet in incognito mode
𝓀𝒶𝓉𝓎.
You should be able to fill it in as a guest.

yup

thank you!
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
fyi! i took a look at the version history and no one's names are recorded. i know for a fact i edited it while logged into my rp account and i can't be the only one, so i think everyone is anon!
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
seconding forms, at least that way someone cant accidently overwrite or delete someone else's ac
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
stupid question, I never use google docs, but shouldn't the fact that it's editable by everyone cause possible problems? because everyone who accesses the spreadsheet can undo other people's check in, or we can mess up someone else ac by accident
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
I understand that this is easier for the mods but I also feel like we're losing something in terms of security and the like
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
as a friend pointed out to me, if someone outside the game gets the google doc link, they could also delete everything. Or even if there's ooc drama among players this could end really badly
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
sorry I don't want to be annoying just...pointing out possible issues ya know
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
idk other games use gdocs and there don't seem to be any problems but like, if someone accidentally deletes your ac just say that?
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
that implies me noticing my ac had been deleted
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
the stakes here are extremely low
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
if mods still do ac warning then you'll notice when you get the warning...
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
and yet, you would be surprised how vindictive some people can be in the rp-world
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
but as i said, I understand that this is easier to check for the mod team
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
yeah there's 150 characters in the game
rana
Yeah I think there's just a compromise to be had in a way that reduces mod work of checking AC but also preserving the spreadsheet so it isn't accidentally or intentionally edited
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
i edited my name to lowercase letters and i got a warning and had to click "ok" so there's that
rana
Things like single deletion or misclicks can be easy to do accidentally and then hard to restore as people continue to edit the new version.
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
Aye, it doesn't need to be something done purposely, just messing up while clicking.
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
also the whole AC sheet tab can be deleted at once. If you right click on it, the option is there and uuuhhh idk if google docs let you actually block that?
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
I really never use them, so I only know the basics
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
it only takes one fuck up to ruin everyone's hard work
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
you'd use version history to correct that
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
ohhh nifty. Thanks, I didn't know
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
ye google makes huge mistakes really easy to correct
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
i started doing all my schoolwork on gdocs and gsheets for that reason lol
rana
Yeah it's the big noticeable mistakes that are easy to correct. You can also look at the edit history of a single cell to see if something was written and then deleted but I almost wonder if that's more work to check and verify ya know lol
rana
Than just collecting information in a way that the source is verified
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
ahah good, that makes me feel better
rana
I have a lot of thoughts about data collection and maintenance I'm sorry this is the way my brain is
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
nah, it's understandable. I work on web design so security issues are always on top of my mind too
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
at the end of the day it's just ac and we aren't the ones having to check it for 150+
rana
Right right and I think there are ways to really reduce mod work load both in checking ac and making sure it doesn't get messed up with one intermediary step with a form (that they already use for the a5 cards)
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
in prisma you got swept at 11:59pm GMT on the 31st absolutely no exceptions and no questions asked, and even that was valid imo... there were like 600 characters
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
I was in prisma for a few months and yeah the number of players was insane
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
godspeed to whoever was doing that ac lol
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
what a champion
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
For real, they deserve an award

seconding the suggestion for a form! in my previous game, players would submit ac via a form and the results would show up in a spreadsheet to which only the mods had editing access
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
I've been in games with gdocs and things usually go smooth enough, especially if there's AC warning anyway. Form wouldn't be a bad idea, but I think it'll be fine either way
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
It's an editable doc but it's not like it doesn't have version history and such, as was said. Beautiful thing about gdocs and all
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
Esp since one person still, technically, owns the doc on their account.
rana
Right but a single cell deleted is hard to notice unless you check the edit history of an individual cell, returning to the version before it was deleted undoes later work and then it can be difficult to reconcile all the changes that happened after
rana
So version history is helpful for large changes but not minor ones that can be hard to notice
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
:? I mean, if we have AC warning would that not notify someone who has their AC in that an error occurred.
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
And no matter what approach, you have to account for human error...
rana
Do we have AC warning? I haven't been through a an ac round and don't see anything on the OOC comm. People may also do their AC and then be offline when AC is actually processed and miss warning of an error that was through no fault of their own.
Momchar
there are AC warnings every month
rana
I see them now, I apparently just have trouble reading which is weird in a hobby built on writing
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
idk i'm pro 'make things easier for the mods'
rana
I am as well, which is why I am advocating for a method that reduces potential for input error too because it is less trouble for them to deal with at the end
ᴼᴸᴵⱽᴱ
that's fine. I have had form submissions also not process right, but we'll see what the mods decide to do. whatever works best for them
rana
I think the forms suggestion has been beaten to death a little bit at this point so I'll pop out. I am very pro efficiency and easing admin burden and thankful of the people who are willing to do it.
𝖙𝖔𝖕 𝖉𝖔𝖌❄️
we have pretty lenient ac warnings, like 3 days. whether it's form or a gsheet if there's a mistake and you get accidentally swept i think you can just pm and you'll be added back
joker
should we be adding ourselves at the end of the list or in alphabetical order? I don't want to bungle any formatting but the instructions don't say...
