I finally broke and downloaded TikTok yesterday. Scrolled for six hours.

But there's recipes, tutorials, and just a lot of really neat people being creative and helpful.

I'm teaching the algorithm what I like.

Is there a way to curate your likes into different categories?

tiktok is good civilization actually

I don't think so

it'll just get a feeling of all the different things you like and feed you things from them

though I think following specialized channels will make those more influencial

right now I think tik tok assumes I'm a lesbian into home improvement, mechanics, cats, and cooking

but also dealing with adhd, depression, and anxiety

so it's honestly almost there

just be sure to like the tiktoks you'd like to see more like

or comment on them, interaction makes the algorithm prioritize those more too

also some tiktok communities like the ones promoting lgbt, safe sex and good kink awareness are unapproachable through regular search methods, so if you're looking for something "alternative" try youtube actually

they have compilations for goddamn everything and usually show you the account names

yeah I've come across some of those just over time

tiktok is a nice 'I need to do something but I don't want to do anything' time filler

I've already found shoplifting TikTok, weirdly enough. Fascinating.
