I can understand why Tenten would join ANBU

But who in their right mind would encourage a close family member to join

it isn't a naruto superfan if they don't have deeply fucking weird ideas about how ANBU works

(for the canon unfamiliar, ANBU being basically ninja black ops)

(yes, even more black ops than your average ninja)

(To the point where they all wear masks and assume fake names so no one can target their friends and family.)

(also, literally everyone who's served a stint in ANBU walks out of it more psychologically traumatized than they were when they went in because of what ANBU asks of the people who serve in it, except maybe kakashi, because it's hard to out-trauma what happened to kakashi before that)

Tenten could conceivably join ANBU, though I'm pretty sure Gai would strongly advise her against it and I don't see her ignoring that advice.

I don't see her ever allowing any children she might theoretically have join without a fight.

ANBU would be a place where her skill with weapon scrolls wouldn't be overlooked and would, in fact, be prized/prioritized, but the psychological cost of being "more useful" to ANBU in that way would utterly destroy her as a person

Yeah, she does have part of that mindset already, but that just means joining ANBU would be even more dangerous for her.
