N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
i have not spent most of day reading LO hades/perse fics, nope...
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
not at aaaaaaall
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
god i cant remember the last time i just sat and read fics
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
mightve stayed up way too late reading...
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
wasnt fanfic...stumbled across a modern hades x persophone story and ended up reading all 25 ch of the first book
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
its...i like the world building but it reads a lot like 50 shades or other books of that genre
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
i really dont like how cold demeter is in it, hades is kinda a creep, and perse does this really quick like 180 at the end
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
like the last ch felt rushed
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
other gods that showed up were p on brand
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
i think it was the writers LO fanfic that they changed some stuff for cuz there was this whole bit where minthe mentions sending perse to tartarus and that didnt happen in the book
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
said writer writes a lot of LO fic
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
they had like the first half of the book up on ao3 bit obv made some changed between that and the published version
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
big ones like removing the bit about how gods cant lie, which i personally thought was p neat
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
like theyre already kinda fae-like
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
also i think lexa (the bestfriend/roommate) knew perse was a goddess in the fic version but that was changed
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
anyway premise of the story is at some point the greek gods wanted to make themselves known? have more worshippers? idk, something like that, and made their demands
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
mortals didnt take it well i guess and war ensued and obv the gods won
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
they reshaped the world into like one massive continent (or just moved some around idk), called it new greece and set up shop
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
they just live their lives at the top, running powerful businesses and i guess kind of took each new city as their territory, or parts of cities as their territory (like a lot of them own clubs)
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
and thats that
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
the world stuff isnt touched on much beyond that little explanation (theres stuff about impious that comes up and the triad which is apparently an impious terrorist organization but you never see anything with them)
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
persephone, the goddess of spring, has no magic of her own, she cant grow plants instead she kills them with her touch, she has use demeter's magic to glamour herself (and you can see where that's going)
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
hades owns a club/gambling den? he will often have mortals at the end of their rope coming to him to make a deal and most of the time they cant hold up their end of the bargain (he targets their biggest weakness and challenges them to change it and if they fail he takes their soul...hes very much treated like the devil in this)
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
persephone ends up entering such a deal with him, she has to create life in the underworld (which has none save for what grows in asphodel i guess?)
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
idk its weird, like the dead live their lives in the underworld, they have gardens and grow stuff (at least they do in asphodel) but the rest of the plantlife is an illusion created by hades?
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
oh yeah and persephone is in her last year of college and just got an internship at one of the top news agencies in new athens
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
and she decides, after meeting hades, to do her first story one him
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
blahblahblah
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
whole thing revolves around their sexual tension and hades is constantly overstepping boundaries and never really gets called on it and hes massive creep about everything with persephone
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
but i started this stupid journey and now i guess i gotta end it
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
cept the last book doesnt come out til sometime in 2021
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
why is hermes always the best character in any of these stories
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
i fucking love him
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
good god the amount of jealousy in this story is just /drags hands down face
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
hermes continues to be best boy
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
going to gush about hermes some more because him popping in all "who do i need to kill" and then getting told it's apollo and responding with "rain check" is great
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
book two made me cry a lot but it had more of a focus on death and im kinda sensitive to that rn...oof
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
thanatos is very sweet tho
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
reading the book that is from hades point of view (because of course the author did that because thats the thing you do with these kinds of stories now) and its certainly more entertaining
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
hades is still a creep and even more frustrating but the shit he gets up to that doesnt revolve around persephone is p good
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
literally steals all of helios' cows because he doesnt have time to choose the best of them to steal
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
why is the book written from hades pov is so much better lmao?
N̢̺̝o̫̟͖L̼͍̞。
(probably because it doesnt spent the entire time focused on his and perse's relationship)
