[COVID-adjacent] Question for everybody: Is Christmas/December holiday stuff nearly cleaned out of the stores where you are?

My dad was shopping for geegaws to put on the boxwood trees at his friend's greenhouse/garden center, and the craft stuff stores are wiped.

Also, the garden center was down to 80 trees as of last night. There's usually more than that by this point in the month.

idk but I did hear there is a higher demand this year since people who dont usually get a tree are getting one

Yeah, the general theory has been that people who generally go to Grandma's for Christmas and don't decorate their house a lot for that reason are going all out instead,

Its open season on vices too, according to parental unit candy is badly hit

I work at a home improvement store and we basically have three bays of it left and the store looks like normal time of year

I can't say I blame them: people are ;probably clinging to whatever joy they can find, but... it does defeat the purpose.

Oh yeah, I get why people are doing it, absolutely! It's a coping mechanism, and I say hey, if this is part of what helps people feel better, then let them have it.
