Hi, this plurk is going to be me gushing about a game I've been playing recently and really really like. Hopefully no one minds.

Because I've been playing Ikenfell for the past... month-ish? I think it came out about a month ago now.

And it's really good.

It's about this girl named Maritte, whose sister Safina is a student at the Ikenfell school for magic. But Safina didn't come home for summer vacation, so despite how she has no magic, Maritte goes to try and get into Ikenfell to find out if Safina is okay.

And then as she approaches Ikenfell, she develops pyromancy powers, which is not only news to her because she is an Ordinary, but is also news to everyone else because pyromancy isn't a school of magic that's been heard of.

So she then goes on to team up with some of Safina's classmates and rivals to find out what happened and also maybe fix a bunch of problems along the way.

(Incidentally, half of the playable characters are non-binary, and most of the cast is LGBT of one form or another. There's even ace rep ^^)

It's grid-based combat with a timing system that's kind of like the Mario and Luigi games, and all of the characters have unique sets of spells, so no two characters feel alike, and I like all of them~ It's almost a shame you can only have a max of three in your party at a time, but I mean, more would crowd the battlefield so I get it

also friendly fire is on so you have to strategize around that but there are lots of options

and the puzzles are all charming and make you think while not being too moon logic to solve

and the soundtrack is really cute~

and the aesthetics are really cute~

and as my siblings would insist is the most important part, not only can you pet the cats, but they are the save points

I really really like this game okay.

(I'm not sure what led past!me to back it on Kickstarter a few years back, but you know what, past!me made a good decision.)

It does get a bit emotionally intense in parts, though. So that's a thing to note.
