update: the cats are going to the groomers, so I had the fun experience of chasing down one (1) small cat who channels the flash when she's scared, and one (1) big idiot who used all his strength to resist the carrier

update: when they got home they were so tired that they didn't even make it to mom's bed, they just flopped down in the hallway
