I sometimes wonder, if I presented the question (to my father, to my cousins and aunt and uncle in Florida), “do you understand that the person you are voting for actively wants to see me and people like me erased from history?” if they would change their minds. But deep down, I know that they won’t.

It’s more important to them to see people who are different than them get hurt simply because they look or act or think differently; and to have messages from the government affirming that their racism and prejudices are just fine. :-(

There was a row on here a couple of years ago. Somebody actually admitted to being a right-wing "christian" and was utterly convinced that hating groups of ppl was "good" because her pastor said so,
