after an outage for maintenance yesterday, Spoonflower has come back with its alarm bell counter doing a lot more again - just not quite right still!
sef_lopod
in the old days, the counter used to count private message events and alerts feed events. The alerts feed was in turn divided into favouriting events, new followers, commenting on designs and actual sales.

then Spoonflower broke their website very badly into fragments and many individual events stopped showing up in the alerts feed and the alerts themselves stopped being counted on the alarm bell (leaving just private messages showing up).

when the counter started showing stuff other than private messages again yesterday, it seemed to be counting right back to the beginning (either of the website or the point at which it had become broken).
sef_lopod
now it seems to have stopped running into the tens of thousands and settled down a bit. But it's still showing some counts for things which aren't visible on the alerts feed itself. Eg after 1 visible favouriting event, the counter then claimed a further 3 things which weren't showing at all (recently).

Hmm. Sounds as though there might be a software engineer involved somewhere.
sef_lopod
not. There's another of their new code monkeys hacking around in there rather than a properly trained software engineer.
