today in Parrot Tales: i keep a plastic container of walnuts on top of Verdi's cage, and rn it's almost empty so it's very light

it's been his new favorite toy for a couple days now; he's been having a lot of fun hitting it and making it move, grabbing it with his beak through the bars and flipping it around, etc.

just now he managed to get it on its side, pull the lid off, and liberate a walnut all on his own

he also knows how to open the latches on his cage, but doesn't seem to be able to relatch it, so sometimes he'll open one of his doors and then get mad because the door is open

that is quintessential parrot, wow

that is extremely parrot, I love it

most frequently he pops open the food dish door (usually when he's running low and/or when he sees me eating something and he's hopeful that i'll share), but yesterday he unlatched the big door on the front of the cage and god was he miffed when it went swinging open
