[death note] finished watching the anime and reading the one shot today. fuck i love this series

ngl i love that they put trumps likeness in the one shot and that the end result of his transaction is that he dies

i hate trump lol

but the one shot was good. i dislike that minoru had to die since he legit helped ppl and murdered no one. also the rule of buying/selling the death note was added after he did the thing so it didn't make sense to make it retroactive but eh. whatever. i wasn't that attached to him so it doesn't make such a huge difference to me

i just dislike seeing good ppl punished for doing good things

though i suppose to can say that giving someone like trump the murder notebook is doing a Very Bad thing so

thoughts on the anime coming after this match of overwatch

so the last 12 episodes i'd never forced myself to watch. once L died i always noped out bc i found the addition of near and mello to be so jarring

and i still feel that way

they needed SOME kind of foreshadowing. somewhere in the time we had with L it needed to be mentioned that he had mentees or something. even if it was someone(s) he viewed as younger siblings. just something

otherwise they are introduced out of the blue and for being that late in the series it doesn't fully make sense.

even having watched it now i still feel that way. idk if the manga has done it differently or not since i haven't ready it yet

but yeah

that said though

i didn't fully hate the last dozen eps?

and i am glad that light was caught in the end, and it was pretty satisfying that ryuk was the one to end his life. esp given the earlier statement that the rule of the contract between shinigami and person who uses the death note is that the shinigami ends up killing the person

paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it

also. ryuk is a god of death. for that reason it also makes sense that he'd be the one to kill light

i have feelings about light's meltdown when it was revealed that he was in fact kira, but i'm not sure how to articulate them

something to the effect of: stop being a baby and admit defeat instead of throwing a tantrum.

also that whole tantrum just served to prove my own statement that light yagami is a narcissist

only a fucking narcissist would have that much trouble admitting defeat and would still continue to fucking gaslight and manipulate people with all the evidence right there in their faces

i'm sure i'm going to have a lot more thoughts on this as time goes on as i can see myself thinking on this for fucking days, but i think that's all of them for now

ALSO. I successfully read one whole thing! the one shot! in the past 3 years that makes 2 things i've actually completed reading lol

i think i'm going to start reading the death note manga, so there will likely be a lot more death note thoughts in the future. no idea if i'll plurk them, or how often i'll actually read this thing, but i'm going to try

shonen jump doesn't have the fma manga or i'd be reading that. will have to find that another way
