Covid update: Dad is hospitalized till at least Sunday. No regrets on bringing my grandmother here but caretaking is exhausting. Mom seems okay with mild symptoms so far.

The stress of being always in caretaker mode is worse doing kids and elder care... just one wouldn't be bad, but my grandmother's awake times are normally like 11:30 am to.... late.

I'm working on getting her up a bit earlier and keeping her engaged during the day so she'll go to sleep earlier.

I just want to go lay down at 9 PM

but she needs a pre bedtime snack (so she won't wake up and go looking for one at 3 am) and of course a handful of pills so I can't lay down till she's had that and gone in her room

amd can't sleep until she's at least done with getting ready for bed, even if she's going to sit up watching tv for a while

and then kids wake me up at like 6:30 and I have to be coherent for school things

we did get a second negative rapid covid test for her today, so breathing a little easier about that, though of course it's fall allergy season so Jamie and I are both stuffy and that's paranoia inducing

it would be better if Zack weren't working 12 hour overnights (fortunately only 2-3 days per week but STILL) pandemic scheduling sucks

Jamie (6) just woke up w cough and possible fever (forehead thermometer read 98.9 so possibly that's a low reading or maybe he was just got from being under covers)

Dad got sent home today after a few hours of stable oxygen levels... still has fever etc though.

Jamie probably just has a regular cold- my sister's kids were sniffly last week the day before we babysat. She actually got her oldest tested just in case and it was negative

so we're making him wear a mask and he's being a very good sport about it

but he was much better for most of the day so I think we're good on that front unless he gets worse.
