Morality questions for Vyng?

OKAY /cracks knuckles

13. What could make them break their own moral code?

His family being in danger, FOR SURE

Barely thinks twice about it in the moment. Feels like total and utter garbage about it afterward

He would probably go a step further and think that he's capable of doing anything to get revenge on the people who killed his mom. But longterm planning isn't his strong suit

Rage and anger can only fuel him for so long before he runs out of steam. Plus, he naturally drifts toward the positive where he can find it

But making split second decisions in a do-or-die situation? There's very little he wouldn't do to keep his loved ones safe

It's something he's keenly aware of. And I'm pretty sure it's one reason his relationship with druidism changes so drastically by season 7

Because he has unnatural amounts of power that's very easy to abuse. And in his heart of hearts, he doesn't trust himself with it

It ultimately leads to him deciding to double down on his moral code, so I'm curious to see where that goes

14. Have they ever doubted their own beliefs? (Spiritual, philosophical)

Yes

He's wrestled A LOT with the moral implications of shapeshifting (in the context of his world)

Went from blissfully assuming that all instances of shapeshifting were fun, friendly collaborations...to realizing that it's easy to override another entity's free will, under the wrong circumstances

Combine that with the catastrophic effects his powers can have on the environment....and you get a druid who ends up slogging through a pretty bad existential crisis

Whenever stuff like that happens, he tends to come out on the other side pretty scarred -- but also with a little more clarity and enlightenment than he did before

So Vyng likes to think it balances out

18. Do they agree with capital punishment?

mmmMMMM, it depends

If dealing with someone who 1) inflicted irreparable harm on somebody, 2) shows zero remorse, and 3) would gladly do it again to other people if given half a chance...

Then, yeah. He'd believe that putting this person or creature down is the morally-correct thing to do

But if the person is genuinely sorry for what they did, or it's clear they have zero intention of hurting anybody else, then capital punishment would just seem cruel to him

On a personal level, he'd sympathize with folks who wanted to see blood for their own sense of closure. But at the same time, he knows capital punishment purely for the sake of it solves nothing

(Also worth noting....self defense doesn't count as a crime to him.)

(so even though Billie has the highest body count and actually doesn't feel all that bad for it, it's still excusable in his mind. Because other people were trying to kill them first LOL)
