I think she DOES want to just go and directly deal with Esme

Because reincarnation is like

She died and she's 12

Reincarnation is her only chance at actually getting a chance at having a LIFE

And Esme isn't letting them advance with that because she wants to play pretend in purgatory

But she also doesn't want to talk about it

Because that would involve admitting how upset she is that she died so young

And it's easier to just pretend she's okay so no one worries about her and they can keep on just having goofy adventures in the afterlife
