bluecanary yes this is a Ting as in the way the skandinavians governed. It is still what we call our governing body. The Great Ting. Iceland's had theirs going for a millennia.

So a Thingplace is the place a Ting would be held.

And you see that in so many place names here. Thing Lake, Thing Hill and so on
