oh y'all haven't heard about my sewing machine, have you (except takh)

I got a New Home treadle machine a month or so back, and I've made progress refinishing the cabinet, but today... now that the weather isn't rain every day... I'm stripping the machine and am going to refinish it soon.

the combo of the nicotine soaked into the finish and the citrusolv paint stripper makes this a weirdly delicious smelling process.

this is her before much work -- and she looked gorgeous even then, but I could chip brown flakes off of her and touching her for too long made my lips numb and tingly, so the nicotine residue was... a bit much.

EVEN THEN she was completely functional, so once she's cleaned and oiled, I will be keeping and using her for straight stitches, I expect.

her name is Fayte, because when an 78 y/o French fibre artist who's known you before for first words gives you a name for your machine, you take it.
