the system of united states governance hasn't been fascist for a few years. it's been fascist since before i was born, it's just been better at hiding it, and now in the information age where news about young Black kids getting murdered by the police and the treatment of the homeless and the eviction of renters while covid is increasing tension

the biggest fucking lie of the united states is that there is a difference between [WHICHEVER PARTY IS SUPPOSED TO BE PROGRESSIVE AT THE TIME] and [WHICHEVER PARTY IS SUPPOSED TO BE CONSERVATIVE AT THE TIME] because at the end of the day whichever color leads the system is still leading a system that was designed from the bottom up to oppress and suppress

and this doesn't even take into account ALL THE WAYS the vote can be manipulated so that it effectively DOESN'T matter, just take a look at gerrymandering nevermind outright fraud

the enemy isn't a single fucking person, it's not "there is a CHEETO loose in the WHITE HOUSE" or whatever joke liberal pundits are making nowadays, it's the system that lets people like that get in power, stay in power, and exert that power

if by some fucking miracle biden wins, and by some act of the heavens above he somehow manages to actually secure the presidency after that, sure his leadership might shoot us in the leg instead of the chest

i've actually debated talking about that for a while on this plurk but have been trying to keep it to a minimum because i'm very white and very middle class and have fundamentally no understanding of what Black people go through just by existing and am not qualified to talk about it and i guess

basically the only thing i can say on the matter is that at least white queer people have the option of hiding our identities from people who want to kill us no matter how shitty it feels

a friend pointed out that having trump in a position of power has enabled people to be more openly fucking terrible and abuse marginalized people more and that's definitely true and trump should not be in power

but i think a fundamental assumption that a lot of people make about extremely hardcore lefties is that we didn't vote (nevermind that i couldn't vote because i was 14 when it happened) in 2016 and every single hardcore leftie i've talked to did, in fact, vote for hillary

all of this bullshit in the past 4 years has radicalized us but "wouldacouldashoulda" isn't going to get anywhere and we need to focus on the problems in front of us namely that i sincerely doubt trump is getting his ass out of the oval office even if by all accounts biden wins by a landslide

idk. i can't vote because my mom lost all my documentation and it's been hell trying to get it back ever since i learned that was the fucking case and i don't think i'll be able to get everything i need to register together in time by the deadline and believe me i have been fucking trying

and if i could vote i WOULD vote in my local races and for the senate and all that shit

but as i've detailed before voting for the biden and harris ticket as is feels like shooting my trans siblings in prison and so many other marginalized people in the chest MYSELF
