help me gently zap my brain

1 and 3, lets talk nice things

shobogan
1. Frenemies, especially of the "we used to be bffs but opposing views tore us apart and we're still sad about it" variety; battle couples with shared trauma who are trying to be good for each other but don't always succeed with it because they've got similar blind spots; opposites attracting, complementing and challenging each other in crucial ways

shobogan
(are some of my ships all three of those? yes)

shobogan
ALSO, cheating with a fourth: the ruthless morally ambiguous character who just can't bring themselves to sacrifice This Specific Person

shobogan
3. Trust. Just, trusting each other so much that they'll do exactly the opposite of what they normally would just because they asked

shobogan
and trusting each other more than they do themselves

Spring Clinds
9, 11, 12.

shobogan
9. Usually, yeah! They don't tend to be the primary focus - like, ficwise I write mostly gen, and I think it edges out what I read too - but I enjoy shipping and there are a lot of dynamics that will grab me. (Tragically fandom and I often don't see eye to eye tho)

shobogan
11. HELL YES, honestly the majority of ships I have I'm just as happy to read or write in a platonic way. I just love intensity and complexity and banter and development

Spring Clinds

Spring Clinds
Yes to that, too.

shobogan
I'm a sucker for familial dynamics, and mentorship, and legacies

shobogan
ooh, and exes who become friends

Spring Clinds
That's always a good one.

shobogan

shobogan
the first question google gave me was "can coconut crabs kill a human" and i'm cracking up

shobogan
12. I rarely stop loving a ship tbh, but for ships getting a lot of fodder currently/recently, Sara/Ava in Legends, Catradora in She-Ra, Katyana in Marvel.

shobogan
remember that time they communicated telepathically while sitting in front of their doors which were right next to each other
