maybe something more like, big battle that can tip the war taking place, but a Big Bad is going to go and stomp the good guys, so Wonder Woman has to go have the big superpower battle against a Big Bad while the humans are off winning the war off to the side. kind of similar but makes it less "I'm the one responsible and you must defeat me to end the war"

no that seems like a good solution. like a D-Day kind of scenario where WW is just playing a diversion for the Big Bad while the normal soldiers go off to win the war
