[gbf] "Oh," I thought to myself, "I'll farm The Tower but I want The Star too so if he shows up as the boss, I'm going to fight him too." [now with more aaaaaaaaaaah]
The main problem at this point is that she casts Death Waltz seven times throughout the battle at specific HP triggers (13 hits at random targets, 1k-2.5k damage with each hit) and people keep dying when they're not supposed to
I need three deaths asap to whittle down her 90% bonus defence to a more manageable extra 30% and can almost guarantee two of those in the first three turns, but for the third one I've got to get lucky.
I bring three Light party members, Ayer (because he can leave himself at single digit HP in turn 1) and Kou (to get killed... if Death doesn't do it despite everything, Death-the-Summon will on turn 3) and then revive whichever light party member also gets killed. Of course that leaves me unable to revive anyone who gets killed later on.
I'm pretty sure I've explained all of this like three times before but whatever. When I finally manage to do this, you won't have to listen to that explanation ever again!
They happen at 99, 95, 65, 50, 45, 10 & 5% and if I get lucky enough, I can skip the one at 99%, but then I get past 65%, the next turn past 50% but not past 45%, the turn after that past 45% and that is just far too much damage all in a row.
I've only made it past that a few times, when I got extraordinary lucky with damage rolls and the like, allowing me to skip one of the middle ones, but by the time the 10% and 5% ones roll around, I'm very much on my last leg.
And you can only hold back so much in this battle when you need basically every skill cooldown you can get to speed through this in the thirteen turns you have, considering that he first three turns get wasted doing nothing against her too-high bonus defence.
ingredients to finally beat Death: - a ton of very very very lucky turns - 1 cosmic sword to wring out some extra power from all those other swords in my light grid - no, really, a ton of luck
and special thanks to: the Glorybringer class for more sword power Lucifer who kept charge attacking and healing the party Robomi who is best robot and kept being very thankful for heals making her do extra things Sandalphon for extra damage and for surviving Ayer and Kou for their sacrifice
I can fight Death (in her far easier Arcarum Extreme form, thankfully XD ) one more time tomorrow, since I'm going to need additional ideans to uncap Nier anyway, and then we'll see where that leaves us. I spent a lot of points on the flameborn astra for Alanaan and slowly made my way back up to like 20k arcapoints, so that should help.
since I unlocked the Arcarum roughly one year ago (in mid-September), I have - recruited Alanaan - come very close to recruiting Nier, which might happen before the unlockiversary - made significant progress with The Star (at four stars, needs non-arcarum mats for 5star) and The Tower (at the ssr stage)
having bought both available evolites from the arcarum store, I am now 400/500 valour badges into being able to buy a third one, and still haven't turned in my code from the ps4 game, which could give me another one
I suspect they'll add a third one to the store around the holiday like they did last year, which is also nice, so there shouldn't be a shortage any time soon
slight change in topic, but that drop rate+ campaign is really nice. I think I'll focus on whichever element is boosted for the next few weeks because I still need to 4star uncap all elements' omega summons and that just needs... so many tier 2 anima... so many...
the quartz is probably going to be the bigger roadblock for those uncaps. at least I finally unlocked that extreme+ difficulty that does all three battles for a omega 1 raid in one go, and those drop their summons at least sometimes, so that's going to be some extra farming I guess
at least the third path that I'm going to be running for a while for The Tower and the last few star ideans drops darkborne astra pretty frequently from special bosses etc. so I'll get there in the foreseeable future
for shits & giggles, I had my standard light team (Lucio, Noa, Sandalphon, with backup that's not relevant here) auto-battle EX Death without a single death on my side (and only one additional button pushed from me, to let Noa give Lucio a full charge bar) and the difference in difficulty is comical.
That sub aura effect though
not quite. But so close!

Yaaaaaaaaay
(I still need more astra to uncap her, but just like with the last few for the card, I'll wait for those to fall in my lap)
This was a great idea and nothing has ever gone, or will ever go, wrong at all.
