[hair dyeing] SO I MIGHT NEED HELP?

This is the stuff I have

Plus a bowl/brushes and capes in the closet

I have starbright silver and electric blue for the sparks colors

and they mention developed in the instructions so I grabbed that creme developer. 30 vol was the lowest I saw there and my one friend freaked out that I got 30 volume?

and now I'm genuinely confused about what I'm doing

like

I was going to bleach it, give it a few days, using some toning shampoo/conditioner I got to reduce brassiness and let the oils build back up on my scalp

and then, if I was ready the instructions right, mix one of those colors with the developer and put it on

but she's telling me mix 50%water and 50% developer to make 15 volume developer?

obv. I have never studied cosmotology but idk, that sounds wrong?

236 bees
hm

236 bees
light as your hair already is 30 might be a little stronger than needed but it's not like 40

236 bees
also if you want to dilute it I think mixing with conditioner is a little more standard?

that sounds a bit better than water, definitely

236 bees
but you have a box of bleach there and so may not need it

236 bees
box dyes and such one of the issues is you don't know the strength

236 bees
it's probably 30 or 40 tho

236 bees
the developer is probably fine if your hair isn't fried

236 bees
way more important is gonna be your process

<3

236 bees
you have fairly short hair, but you are going to want to start with the middle to ends of your hair and start in the back and make your way to the front

236 bees
do your roots LAST

I've never tried dying my hair myself, someone always came to help me out lol

the roots I know I least
I watch a guy on facebook sometimes and he constantly notes that roots process faster

236 bees
the tips are gonna be potentially the most fragile and will lighten or take color the second fastest

236 bees
yeah, roots go faster because of the heat from your scalp

236 bees
heat makes things move faster so roots come last

236 bees
you are gonna want to thoroughly saturate your hair in small sections - bleach and dye do not lather you cannot rub them through big sections

236 bees
and especially with bleach trying to lather it will make your scalp hurt more because you'll be damaging the skin

236 bees
not a lot but like little scratches will make the bleach burn worse

I've never had my hair fry thankfully but Idk if that's been dumb luck on my part or the fact that I always make sure to thoroughly condition after bleaching and after dying

236 bees
which is what you'll get with rubbing it in

236 bees
anyway, thick coat of bleach, like it should be covering every strand of hair, not clumps of hair

<3

236 bees
you can use foil, it's not fully necessary though

thank you for helping! I'm stupidly nervous about doing this myself lol

bf is helping though so he can see spots I won't since I'll be sans glasses

236 bees
but yeah the bleach should look like toothpaste coating the hair

236 bees
like you want it VISIBLE

236 bees
then you wanna take a plastic grocery bag or something and cover your head while it develops

236 bees
try not to touch your scalp like I said it'll make things worse

236 bees
but cover it, it does not work when it is dry

236 bees
then just let it bake until you're happy

236 bees
like I said your hair is light?

236 bees
to start with

236 bees
check the color every 10 minutes or so you're ppppppprobably going to want maybe 20-30 minutes max

236 bees
also since you're nervous one thing to consider:

236 bees
since your hair is short you can't mess up too bad

236 bees
LIKE I MEAN GENUINELY NOT TO BE DISMISSIVE HERE

236 bees
but if somehow you manage to screw your hair up so totally that you are bald as an egg after you can get back to the starting place in probably less than a year you know?

236 bees
this is not the ideal but I feel like lowers the stakes somewhat

236 bees
hopefully anyway lol

lol no you're right, fucking up now won't hurt too bad

and my hair tends to grow pretty fast so it'd probably just be a few awkward months

at least the little pink hat the one lady in the hospital made me would come in handy!

I think it'd be good if you didn't do it while no one is around. Just that in case you need help or the bleach is running down your neck you have someone to dab it or help in any other way. Back of the head could be hard.

This advice (?) is brought to you by me watching my mum bleach my gran's hair for years

oh yeah, defintely. bf is down to help, even helped pick the colors

yay for bf

StupidSexyVโ der
30 is fine

StupidSexyVโ der
but yeah you have a kit so it might have the developer with it

I found some reviews of it too, some people were just putting on the sparks without anything
but one person mixed it with conditioner, idk if that would make it last longer or not though, they didn't explain why

I was thinking of using starbright silver over all my hair and then the front tips of my hair getting some electric blue

and someone suggested putting the sparks on dry, shampoo'd-only hair after bleaching

StupidSexyVโ der
that's what i tend to do

StupidSexyVโ der
conditioner dilutes the color, it's often used top make a pastel color
