mine's this but with removable sleeves

only i'd do it with more of a quilted dark navy blue with star shaped clasps, and lined with galaxy fabric, and on the back a sigil in gold of either the Pulsar Map from the golden record, or the positions of the planets on my birthday

Buy über soft blanket at cheapstore like Ross; buy suede throw blanket by lurking sale racks at, like, pier 1. Now you have materials. Worst case scenario, have to buy the suede-ish new at fabtic store

Yeah, the pattern for that would actually be super simple, since it skips sleeve and most tailoring, which are what make coats a bitch and a half.
