My mom is delicately freaking out about hurricane shit and I'm not sure if she's overreacting or not.
L'fuckingChaim
By "delicately freaking out" I mean she sent a long email telling us to assemble water & take stuff out of the deep freeze, and who to call if our power goes out because the part for the generator isn't in yet
L'fuckingChaim
so now I am INdelicately freaking out, because my overall competence and coping level is very low as it is
L'fuckingChaim
(the deep freeze thing is, we should take out anything we think we'll need now, because it will stay cold for a while if the power goes out as long as we. don't open it.)
L'fuckingChaim
(it is so full of meat)

it's hard to tell with storms like this >.>

mmmmn
Yensia
It looks like it's going to have a LONG track over land before it gets to you
Yensia
that's going to rob most of its power
Yensia
Even if it takes the easternmost track, it will barely brush water again
Yensia
Ultimately I wouldn't worry too much about it; there will be wind and rain (maybe) but by the time it hits you it'll be much diminished.
Yensia
If your power tends to go out at any winds, then yeah, that's still a concern, and preparing water and such is never a bad idea.
L'fuckingChaim
thank you Crysi; that helps
L'fuckingChaim
our power is not TOO fragile, but we live in the woods so tree branches happen and we're not on the fixing priority list
Yensia
after living in florida for a few years I buy more water in the summer/fall as a matter of course
Yensia
If you're worried about the power, prepare, but as I said: by the time the storm gets to you, it will have been centered over land for a long while.
Yensia
It won't be bad.
