mildly amused by how some Star Wars scenes play out in hindsight - bearing in mind that, due to the freaky nature of the force, there could be an element of unclear foresight in there too.

so Daddy Vader (quite the patriarch) locks up his rebellious daughter in her cell room. Although he wants information from her, he doesn't rough her up (or kill her like the NPCs who might have had info) but tries drugging her and tricking her instead.

then in the next film he does rough up (without having any interrogation questions) the unsuitable boyfriend - again apparently not targetting his unknown daughter for the same treatment. But the promising boy he wants on his side (and perhaps might have regarded as a good match) turns out to be his son.

isn't the bit where Luke and Leia snog the retrospectively grossest bit?

sef_lopod
it's barely a snog (only a peck in IV midway and end celebration?) and somewhat awkward even near the start of V - like they already recognise something's not quite right (beyond the in-film reason of it just being a snub of the boyfriend even at the time).

interestingly various families have completely different cultural views of in-family kissing. Eg mine would not do lip kissing at any generational level (and only later on adopted the continental air kissing) but others definitely would kiss parent to child or sibling to sibling etc. Ditto people and their pets.
