New to the crew here but as someone who has moved around, do it, you never know what will come of it but you'll regret it if you don't try. One step forward is better than one back.

Hey, I am 100% for anything that gets you away from the toxic living space that your parents have always created for you. I think that's a Very Good Choice.

Man, no where is the ritz, especially if you are young and on your own. But if it's your own you can make it home. Sure, the world is a crap shoot right now and it is never easy, I came to where I am with 300 in my pocket, no job and I knew no one. It was hell for a few months but I found a job and three years later I am buying a home and building a place

Not moving forward is the same as moving backward in this kind of situation. Even if it's not an ideal place, you can always try again.

for myself, had I let all the what ifs stop me, I'd be at a job I hate in a state I hated more and miserable.

tbh thats the state i was in recently, i just quit a job i hate and am still living with emotionally toxic and abusive parents

So you knocked down one of those obstacles; now take down number two no one even family is worth toxicity in your life.

It is better to live in a sketchy neighborhood and have to be alert than to live in a home where inside you have to be alert because of what can happen. I'd rather know to watch the dude outside then the people inside. Inside is supposed to safe, it's my space.

With the current climate you'd be surprised, I think a lot of places are being more understanding because so many people found themselves stuck with nowhere to go in bad situations.

If you have toxic parents it's no wonder. It's a skill that can develop from before you speak, I know.

I had to rent an efficiency before I got a job, but there was a little old couple that worked with me until I got on my feet.

I don't see that someone has a right to lose their shit over you quitting a job though, it's your life. I am a fiercely independent person though and have no family so I guess I can't speak on it entirely.

I do remember reading all that before, and can confirm that no, you aren't dumb about wanting to move somewhere new.

It's Fine And Valid to feel nervous and scared, but it's still worth taking the leap when you have the chance to.

If you've survived that, you can survive anything, trust me. Those who have known harshness where they should have known kindness may fear themselves weak but find they are the strongest ones out there. You're a survivor, don't stop now, move, find a life for yourself, find happiness.

Also, in your situation, try contacting some of the shelters for abuse around your area, a lot of them have programs to help with relocation and teaching you how to get on your feet when you've been held back like that.

you may have difficulty getting a place to stay at first depending on your savings and how picky they are about you already having an income first (some require you to make 3x the amount they charge for rent and you'd have to show proof of that), but it isn't impossible
