McConnell, asked about what he'd say to parents and teachers who fear reopening schools in this pandemic, quipped, "I think they fear, more, children being stuck at home this fall."
The CDC data hasn't been updated since 7/14, which was Tuesday of this week. So we haven't had any data on hospital capacity and inpatient bed occupancy for three days.
And from that article... this is the data source that states are also using to make decisions on things like surge capacity for hospitals. Which means that states literally don't know if they need to start preparing surge capacity right now.
Hospital beds don't appear out of thin air. It takes time to get that stuff ready. So... this will prevent states from knowing what's going on in their hospitals
Also I read the actual PDF that announced this change and there's... literally no way for anyone else to request this data and they're supposed to the only part of the federal government that gets sent data
And they're basically asking hospitals to rewrite automatic software or manually import data to a ENTIRELY NEW SYSTEM overnight during the middle of a pandemic. When hospitals are getting slammed and might not be able to afford the $$$ needed to make these changes.
This could easily impact data collection for months. When... this system has been in the works for months and wasn't announced ahead of time to anyone.
it isn't emphasized because the libruls are out to get her but because "the science should not stand in the way" is hard to imagine in any context where it doesn't sound anti-science
