-A terrible history of unwilling breeding camps cause many to fear revealing themselves despite how society has progressed considerably in the modern world. It's even worse in older time periods if that it where your fic is set.
-Their rarity make them high ranking and anyone they Bond to, is elevated as well. Immunity to specific laws for instance. But it can be annoying when people fawn or whine. The high rank comes from government/those in charge trying to make up for the breeding camps in history.
