Like, it all makes sense when you're PLAYING it but when you need to focus on engaging with an unseen audience and be a Good Performer, that's just a smidge too much brain power (don't you try it, don't you try-y-y-y it)
my first instinct was that Paper Mario has very simple gameplay in an elegant way, but I guess I can see being used to RPGs obfuscating their mechanics more
it made a lot more sense in the NES games, ironically, where they represented your damage multiplier as "oh you just hit the enemy that many times in a row" as opposed to a single hit
there is no logic to dokapon
things just happen, and you lose
