Uh. So I was feeling really terrible and craving distraction and I was out of energy for the last several episodes of My Next Life As A Villainness so I sorta read the entire main novel of Scum Villain's Self Saving System -
nan
and now I really want to write fic about how being released from the meta narrative constraints of being the protag's childhood sweetheart in a harem type setting allows Ning Yingying to seize the reins of her education and really step up and become, although admittedly in the novel ITSELF behind the scenes and in the background -
nan
a full blown gentlewoman scholar type hero whose innate sense of justice and fairness and generosity and compassion aren't warped around to always focus solely on the hero and his emotional needs so on, so she winds up simply his partisan (which seems to be what happens to her in the base story that SVSSS springboards from)
nan
but like I said, a real true sword of righteousness and mercy, a defender of the weak and hurt
nan
and like. Deciding on EVIDENCE and her OWN OBSERVATION and being brave and calling people to account or heel, even when they're her elders or superiors or could - although she's a superhero in her own right - blow her off the mountain with a gesture - and demand they too stop and think it through, reflect and see clearly.

Ning Yingying: /in the middle of another dumbass bar brawl
Ning Yingying: ...not that it generally gets me much of anywhere, but a person has to try

I watched the first episode of My Next Life and loved it. Need to go back and finish it. The only show I kept current with this season was Tower of God.

nan please tell me you've watched Ascendance of a Bookworm...
nan
RogueTanking - I haven't seen Ascendance of a Bookworm yet! I will give it a try! I'd been made super uncomfortable by the previous couple of isekai stories I tried up till Next Life as A villainness, but that sounds like I can totally handle it, and also OH MY GOSH
nan
So cute and awesome and totally up my alley!

I love stories about building infrastructure and learning a craft, and like, using your knowledge of a thing recreate it in a situation where the infrastructure and support doesn't exist -
nan
(I love Shipwreck Survival Aftermath stories like Verne's The Mysterious Island or Dr Stone for that reason)
nan
(When, like, a person transmigrates as an adult and the people around them really effectively lose their friend, the person they knew, but they don't know it? It can be just. really distressing to me, in a way that can interfere with reading the story at all)
nan
(is what I mean) (and why I haven't explored this genre too much)

Ascendance of a Bookworm is literally all that is wholesome and pure in this world. I'm glad you like it.
