ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i super need to NOT work in bed but also the work mac totally allows me to work in bed.....

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i am also actually seriously considering saving my money in the future to buy one of these so it can be mine.....

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
the part of me that took this thing out of the box and SCOFFED because "who needs this aesthetic"

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
me

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i do

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i need that aesthetic

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
mostly i swear by my asus machines and i love them and they are wonderful

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
but they are also extremely unwieldy monsters

(●°u°●) 」
honestly i could never program on anything other than a macbook now

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
YEAH HOW DID I EVER

(●°u°●) 」
HOW WOULD I RUN ANY TERMINAL COMMANDS, I DON'T KNOW

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
so i have a hub to set it up to plug into my tv which i use for my big external monitor and that's fine but i've worked off of that maybe twice since i've had this and i don't understand how i'm able to do that lol

(●°u°●) 」
my only complaint is that i abuse it and have like 4 ios simulators running and then (no surprise) it gets hot

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
ah yeah

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i think what's selling me is how easy it is to flip between windows

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
like once i knew what all the gestures do it's so easy to navigate around

(●°u°●) 」
oh god the gestures i love gestures

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
the keyboard is also way comfy now that i'm used to it

(●°u°●) 」
my first window is for like, slack and chrome, my second one is for vscode, my third is for terminal/simulators/database, and my fourth is for music

(●°u°●) 」
i like how the keys feel, though i had to break out a spare one i have because my computer... gets warm

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
if i hook it up to the hub i run vscode on the monitor and then my simulators on the mac screen

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i'm officially spoiled by being able to run ios and android simultaneously

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
i used to code for android and then have to pull my code from inside a mac vm and then pray that there wouldn't be any finicky bullshit between platforms

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
now i can just reload the whole thing and go "ah yes, ios is not a fan of this"

(●°u°●) 」
i feel like most of us at work use the ios simulator, except for one guy on my team who came from google before this and uses the android simulator

(●°u°●) 」
we're so ios biased lol

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
lol we have to use both to make sure things match up reasonably well between the two. and then before i throw things into review i usually pull my builds out of app center and test things either on a physical device or on kobiton because no one's mailed me an iphone to test on yet lol

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
they mailed me a samsung and it's like "awesome all i have here are android devices i need an apple something lol"

(●°u°●) 」
at this point our app is mature enough that most of what we do is using existing components we've built, so usually our only android problems are related to navigation

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
navigation is............... tricky

ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴡʏʀᴍ
while i was fixing a bug last week i discovered a new bug and haven't solved it yet and it's totally a navigation thing

(●°u°●) 」
gross
