[MCU/refugee crisis] starting to vocalize some of my issues with New Asgard on Earth when compared to how real life human refugees are treated

Hyatt
it's also a problem that bothers me in my AU, because while Asgard doesn't get destroyed, it does become almost entirely uninhabitable and most Asgardians leave for greener pastures, and Earth is one destination

Hyatt
and the human governments basically bend over backwards to grant the Asgardian refugees land for their new homes while ignoring human refugees

Hyatt
(in my head the biggest colony, which gets built near Puente Antiguo, pretty much immediately starts granting asylum to human refugees at the Mexico border, to the shock and outrage of the US)

Hyatt
(so not perfect, but acknowledging the unfairness of the situation and having the heroes' group using the privilege they have to help the less privileged)

Tanks4theMemory
Yeah. I can definitely see that. Because governments would definitely want the Asgardians- with their super-advanced technology that they might be nice enough to share with their friends- as opposed to normal humans who might actually, you know, need things or even vote against them if they became citizens.

Hyatt
yup, that's a big consideration for the governments in my AU. not sure how much it applies to canon when the Asgardians pretty much just have the shirts on their backs

Tanks4theMemory
Well they also had a big ol' spaceship either way. X3

Hyatt
wasn't it not theirs?

Tanks4theMemory
Not technically, but since when has that ever mattered to the government? X3

Hyatt
it matters when it comes to getting continued perks out of giving refuge to the Asgardians

Tanks4theMemory
Besides, with the Grandmaster overthrown, he's not likely to come looking for it.

Hyatt
it's less about the true owner coming for it and it not being that much of a bargaining chip for Asgardians because they can't offer more understanding of it than human scientists working alone could

Tanks4theMemory
And either way, there are plenty of Asgardians who like ly have knowledge of how to build/operate advanced tech, even if they don't have working examples on hand.

Tanks4theMemory
Think how eager governments were to get the German rocket scientists on their side after WWII.
