what i'm looking at now though! is in the version i originally read, the locals told them about a haunted hotel and they went there and there was a mini ghost mystery where they learn it's actually built over the site of the burned-down brothel

might as well give a tiny summary of what i remember of the cut scene because i can

so they floated to this town totally by coincidence! and a lady at the docks dragged them to her inn to stay! but they went out and checked out another place she'd warned them away from that looked like an inn with really bad business that she said was cursed

and when they went there, it had one single employee and no business, and the employee was really rude but took their money and said no refunds

the innkeeper lady had told them anyone who stayed at this place overnight would get haunted by sexy ghosts doing papapa at night, though of course there wasn't anything during the day, so they decided to order a meal and sit downstairs in the totally empty eating area, where all the food they got smelled like burning

and then an old man showed up who the waiter was extra rude to so they invited him to sit with them and he told them aaaaall the tea on this place

that it was a brothel! named...sishi? after sisi and meng shi, and that it had burned down in a huge fire and the remains of all the residents were still probably here beneath them at this very moment

meng yao tries to pull the guy off her and gets kicked down the stairs because he and stairs have a vendetta

i like the rewritten drunk scene....wifi staring way too close at wangji's sleeping face and then freaking out and rolling on the floor to calm himself down is a lot better than wifi going mwehehe i've got him now
