Meanwhile Solus is just like "if you wanna know shit, just ask." cool as a cucumber. He's still annoyed by this all, but he sees that this debate is pointless because Tyler is too angry to continue it, and he believes his trauma won't allow a fair conversation between them.
He's also just very good at working people's emotions against them. It doesn't truly matter if he's right or wrong, he can twist logic and reasoning in such a way that it's hard to argue against it because it how its presented makes a certain kind of sense, and makes you doubt your own perspective.
But yeah like, he was legit tho. If people did ask, he would answer. Like, it actually is that simple, but people don't ask, which he puts the fault on them for lmao because that's just...how he do.
tyler is an "i must remain rational at all times or else i lose" debater bc like. it's too easy to insult one of his many issues as an angle and if he gets sucked into that then it's over
Like the way solus views the whole thing is that he gave humanity knowledge that could help their society and people, they could use this technology to better their lives and the lives of others, but instead they chose to weaponize it. They always chose to kill one another, instead of the peaceful path. So while he provided the tools, he's no more at fault
Tho that's a very...twisted and faulty half-truth, because he also gave what he did knowing it would likely end up that way, and also hoping it would because it played into his people's schemes (he just also secretly hoped against it as well)
tyler's view is that arming someone with that knowledge is as good as wielding the blade yourself, since without that interference the blade wouldn't exist in that situation
The way Solus sees it is they would have killed each other regardless, he was just giving them a chance to do better, but they followed their natural violent instincts.
I mean, Solus does feel guilty about this shit, he just crams it so far down and denies it exists at all, so he even like...basically gaslights himself in a way to cope
he doesn't really acknowledge that it's not his own fault, that it was his Keeper forcing him to do it all because if he didn't, he would be the one who gets horribly punished and tortured just as badly as the others
he knows his keeper hurt him, but there's a sort of mental disconnect between his keeper hurting him, his keeper hurting them, and his keeper hurting them through him
Solus is doing all of this to save the ones he loves...and also because he literally can't not do it but he puts less stock in that. He acknowledges he cannot defy Zodiark, but like he has never been able to think poorly of Zodiark because of his tempering
Like he's actively grateful towards zodiark despite everything that's happened, and there's no telling how much of that is legitimately him or his tempering
he doesn't know how much is his keeper making him love it and just. being so broken that he'll take any affection he could get, and the only person who would give it was his keeper
his actual boyfriend was the first to sort of get completely lost in it all, bc as much as they all had a good bit of mental fortitude it's very hard to not slip off the edge when your entire existence is murdering your friends and being groomed by your kidnapper to want to like it
Yeah like, Solus is vehemently against hurting people and especially killing them. He is lawfully aligned utterly. But in order to exist doing what he does because of his loyalty to amaurot and his enslavement to zodiark, he's had to reinvent his moral standards
Solus is having a hard time too because of the disconnect from Zodiark, like he's running off of thousands and thousands of years of conditioning, but zodiark isn't in his head anymore and its very...strange
When he was talking to estinien before about the shit he's been doing back in their world, he felt a momentary feeling of doubt for the first time ever irt zodiark and it kinda spooked him a little and he immediately squashed it
He's entirely curious. Like he has endless curiosity, and their shit delves into crap he's unfamiliar with, so he's a little focused on sleuthing it out
i'm just picturing isis stealing his gear bc he starts dissociating as soon as he gets solus's text and solus doesn't get a reply for an hour bc he has to convince her it's fien
Yeah he won't for a bit yet, anyway. he's busy uuuhhhh doing what he's doing. getting hassled by a shitty liepard while trying to build magitek and teach his rotom to not be little bitches
I headcanon he returns to the same dream where he's rebuilding amaurot bit by bit, picking up where he left off, his progress reflecting how far along they are in their progress of rejoining the 13 shards with the source...even in his sleep he's working, but this is more meditative and peaceful than reality
Honestly, if Steven is able to find his fear irt the final days of amaurot and can invoke that nightmare, with how unexpected it is, he will be totally thrown off especially in the beginning
Yeah he will definitely work on rebuilding it, just fucking mad his progress got wiped more or less, and annoyed with himself that his mind won't let him instantly get back to where it was
comes back in here to link this SPOILERS FOR FFXIV but someone made a lil video with the shit from amaurot with Solus' narration about it to give you an idea of what tyler and steven will be putting Solus through ahaha
