I've never been able to understand the hype for Five Guys' burgers and fries.

Every time I got some, the fries were turbo-greasy and slightly overcooked while I'd had better burgers from an elementary school cafeteria. For the hype and the price, i keep expecting a religious experience, y'know?

I dunno. I really like them and they're nothing like what you describe when you talk about your experience.

Maybe my local Five Guys just sucks

So it might just be the franchisee that owns your stores

Having run restaurants for as long as i have, it would be easy to ruin the product if the fryers aren't being filtered daily and the grease changed regularly

and if the grill wasn't scraped frequently during the day.

and that's nothing to say about the workers that don't care

I'm inclined to think you should just not have it from your local store

Yeah, it was definitely a problem of using old grease and, in one instance, green potatoes.

i've had similar experiences, far, far too many fries that are limp and sad

burgers varied wildly between the two times i tried them, the first was great, but it was during a convention weekend so my standards may have been a little skewed. the second was not terribly good - but i'll give them a little credit for being a place that actually has a-1 as a topping option.

I've eaten at multiple five guys locations and they're all bad, yeah

I've never been to Five Guys, so I have no idea. But we had a really good place called Fatburger in Vegas that had awesome burgers.

I'm still here missing freaking Fudruckers.

I've eaten at one where the burger was serviceably better than fast food but not much more than that

And not worth going to when there was an 80 year old local standby

Like one of the regional five star old school favorites

Why go to 5 guys when you can get something classic and beloved for like 2 bucks

Philly area has too much actually good food to waste time on mediocre

Maybe sometimes if it's a good 5 guys and convenient but there are lots of options
