kid has come downstairs, all excited. She has received a promotion at her workplace. After only 3 years from graduating, she now does a similar job as I do and, with my employer handing out paycuts, she gets paid more than I do also. I'm raising her rent.

Well, it is probably good to have the extra income in your household.

it's great for her, but it's so insulting to you. You have a great attitude and very specialist expertise.

Lemongrass : Yah...that is how I feel. But I will retire after this current gig is over, however it ends. If they cut me loose, I will retire. If not, I will work a couple more years and pass on my knowledge to whomever is left to take over what I have left for the company.

Given my scope of responsibilty and knowledge, I am about 20K a year below the industry average. But I am not financially in dire straights, like many of my colleagues. If I make a move to another company, it would probably take me a couple of years before I can really make a good contribution to my employer so there is no reason for me to start again.

My current employer, I can feel, is trying to downgrade my responsibilities, but I just can't work like that. Work that is too easy, for me, is just not fulfilling enough to keep doing it for very long.

I am very proud and happy for my kid.

:-)) she's a bright one.
