[story idea] it was a dream but the story intrigued me

Two mermaids born in captivity/genetically engineered??

Mix of futuristic/modern world

One red mermaid, her hair and tail and eyes are all shades of red

And the other is purple, same with her eyes and hai and tail

Kept in separate tanks. Red one is the “final” version and purple is their “test” mermaid

They’re super close, develop a telepathic bond

Get separated one day and Red hears breaking glass, lots of commotion and escapes amidst it all

Turned human (somehow??) and just wants to find Purple

Toss in some lady mermaid romance because boy was that implied
