in Ryslig he had animals because people kept giving them to him. He's not necessarily the most animal-lovin type but he can deal with them. Not farm animals.

he had a bulldog Loki gave him, he had Rex, he had bought Boone a lizard right before he poofed, so he had and loved all them

the ant farm of note was from his childhood, and it was the largest in Iowa

Oggie doesn't have time for pets but the same way he loves kids he loves animals, even though animals are much tastier. Loves to eat horses. His kids probably had a rotating cast of cats and dogs and whatever else five kids feel like keeping. He loves Jenkas bear Füst though

Virgil has never had an animal that wasn't expressly for the purpose of eating and thats very much colored his feelings towards pets

They never had anything like a dog or cat that coulda killed the chicks, there was no point in fish, he never got particularly attached to any of the chickens cause he despised them

And he would be TERRIBLE at taking care of a pet solo, even before they were clearly on the menu

It would have to be an insanely low maintenance, low attention, hard to lose animal

if he had six months of trial and error to get used to a partner's pet it would work into his schedule and routine and he could handle it but pets are just not for him
