[doing the things, making the stuff!!] [edit: cw for a potentially triggery screencap of text about bladed tools; can be avoided by not clicking the image]
I have so much stuff on my sewing pile (not least more masks) but right now I am sewing old leftover snaps into a robe and I am very satisfied with this decision.
I disassembled a winter coat the other year to make something else out of it, and research tells me the big heavy-duty snaps on things like that are normally installed with a one-purpose snap-installer tool. I don't have that, and am uncertain about the practicality of getting one,
but pushing one side of a snap component through a small hole and then cinching the fabric into the gap with heavy thread seems to be doing the job just fine!
This is why I save zippers and buttons and velcro and everything. The other reason is Sort Fun Supplies Into Satisfyingly Helpful Cute Little Containers.
I can't really sew in the living room anymore because a very good dog lives here now (not my dog but VERY GOOD and also A DELIGHTFUL BOUNDER and I don't want him bounding onto a needle!!) so I'm needing to make some space in my room for it.
if people stay still for awhile the dog usually chills and takes a nap. you shouldn't have to give up sewing in the living room entirely, just set it aside till everyone settles in and stops moving around
I looked up how to sharpen serrated knives (a ceramic sharpener pick), and then looked up how to sharpen boxcutter blades, and then found myself slightly disturbed by the title of this link
Anyway, I want to keep my tools properly maintained; a dull blade of any sort can slip and create problems. It's nice to know I can fix my kitchen knives if they're dull.
(I clicked the link and the question had no further context, but the person answering also advised the asker to be careful and stay safe, which is always good advice.)
It's just two "neon" wires attached to a circuit board that gets attached to a battery; I haven't decided what to do with it yet, but will post when I do!
I googled "argus pheasant dress" and didn't find anything and now I'm disappointed because the Argus pheasant is a LOOK. Ballgown below the neck, punk above.
Dear self: not now
