LIKE. He can't FIX what the bastard did to Jesse. He can't take it away. He can't erase any of the venom he has obviously been spewing at Ahsoka, or change any of the lives lost BUT THIS SMALL ThinG HE CAN DO.
I do - less. Great with the creative team thing - I am still really uncomfortable like I said in chat - with how the thing with Ahsoka and Bo Katan gets handled.
Like, there's no evidence that the writing team understands that - That Bo Katan sexually assaulted her when they first met, that the groping WAS A BIG DEAL.
I could deal with it if it were ever acknowledged, but it never is, and it - like I said, I'm not using 'trigger' to mean 'squick' in any sense here! so.
but even so, it's this really misogynist and homophobic and rape culture pattern you see in a lot of media and it's disappointing to find it in a show that's usually as thoughtful as SW:TCW.
"sold out her home planet to some random sith lord, sure, but turned on him when HE took over the dictatorship instead of installing her PREFERRED puppet" is uh. not. that. much of a redeeming quality?
With an exasperated but eminently professional clone of ethnically Mandolorian descent putting cuffs on you and loading you into a Adheres Strictly To Galactic Standards For Treatment Of POWs transport, yeah.
and god I really honestly do not at ALL have the emotional capacity to deal with how much I love Rex and Ahsoka and their dynamic and MY BABY GIRL'S MASSIVE BLINDSPOT FOR ANAKIN
and just. The...not ease, but...confidence?? with which Rex leads Jesse away from the throne room? There's not a lot clones can do against Maul, he knows this, but he doesn't seem to register much concern about leaving Ahsoka to handle it because his belief in her is that deep
so much of this episode paralleled that first introduction of Ahsoka, from the transport to clones vs sith apprentices, even to how Ahsoka herself still has some arrogance to unlearn (although GOD I LOVED THAT LINE about how she has Kenobi's arrogance)
I have to wonder if Ahsoka knew when she yoinked the handle, and how SAW felt about that, because he sure does have some lingering rage issues about Ahsoka re: Steela, so.
Yeah, although, I always think it's interesting in the funeral scene - how like - Saw is clearly distressed and clearly angry at Ahsoka and he almost CAN'T accept her condolences, but she is also like. The ONLY PERSON IN THE DAMN SCENE who actually respectfully acknowledges his grief and he DOES accept them, and there's this weird kind of -
his total mental breakdown at the end before Rex stuns him!! I love that he's only ever ONE bad turn of events away from a howling tantrum at any given time
because he CAN'T do that even from someone desperately offering it and giving him solidarity and love, he HAS to twist and destroy it and assert dominance
because he correctly recognizes a lot of simularity between himself - part of a centuries long eugenics program to produce men powerful in the Force and physically exceptional
but being baseline or hovering around in Touches The Force More Easily Than Most People Doesn't Qualify For Registry In Any Of The Various Religious Databases
so he does RESPOND he recognizes that Maul is being disgusted by the simularity, but while he is actually an exceptionally perceptive person he's under stress and this is weird as fuck
Rex: Ah, that's where my Jedi is.
especially now that's he's a Commanderwhich...Anakin you didn't even ask you just offhandedly promoted him now that Ahsoka's 'back' because it means you're not 'replacing her'see, he knew if they promoted him it'd all go to shitTHAT OLD SUPERSTITION HELD TRUEalso
