I’m eating more than I’m exercising and not doing any cardio just muscle training

I want 10 pounds by the end of this just to prove that it actually can happen, because I swear when I worked with a personal trainer I saw zero improvement and I spent a lot of money. A coworker and I were going to start working out together this summer and I’ve just been discouraged because of how hard I worked with that trainer for nothing
