( books ) my brain doesn’t want to vomit words so i’m gonna go read noli me tangere now and this is the first time i’m reading an actual book instead of an ebook in like forever

only bc i can’t find the version i want, but i happen to own a paperback bc it was intended to be a required reading in college (until we got a new professor for the subject)

the filipino translations in high school completely take away the flavor. no wonder i never appreciated this - despite having played sisa in our big school play for the country’s centennial celebration

as i told boyf, this and el fili should totes be college reading, not high school. also the versions should at least retain the original narrative style bc god that’s where the beauty of these novels are
